We had a wonderful, long weekend especially in honor of Zoe's first birthday. To help us celebrate, thousands of people flew into the city, the government took a holiday, and the President made a speech on the steps of Congress! Despite all of the fanfare, Zoe played it cool. She was happy to go to the National Children's Museum on Saturday (which, sadly, doesn't hold a candle to the Boston Children's Museum), and then to spend a beautiful Sunday at the church nursery (where she barely cried, despite her high-alert stranger anxiety phase), walking around Old Town with her parents and sister, shopping at the Gap Outlet, and going out for Thai food. Today, of course, was the main event. Here are a few photos to commemorate the day:
Mommy and Tessa slaved over a hot oven all day making Zoe a beautiful birthday cake, while she enjoyed playing in the sand table.

Zoe's stylist selected one of her new outfits for her big day. "Please pick something that brings out the blue in my eyes!"
Then she cuddled with Daddy, then Mommy, then Daddy again. You can't get too much cuddling in on a birthday, right?

Fun pictures! Happy Birthday, little one. We love you.
